This painting is one of a series of 26 Alphabet paintings measuring 10.5" x 13.5" (to fit 11x14 Frame) which celebrate the richness and diversity of the flora and fauna of the British Isles and the influence of the cultures that surround it. Mythological stories and ancient folklore handed down from our ancestors have given our beautiful Isles and all her creatures spiritual significance.The aim of this series of paintings is to continue this tradition by creating a collection of spiritual images inspired by folklore and Mother Nature to pass onto our own children based on the letters of the alphabet.

Spiritual and Folklore Interpretations:  Letter ‘B’

Badger:                  In folklore the Badger is the keeper of stories. He represents bold self-expression, passion and being grounded. He is also linked to Earth Magik.

Bull:                      The bull is a Celtic symbol representing a strong will and uncompromising attitude.

Butterfly:               Symbolises personal transformation and freedom.

Blackbird:             Sacred to ancient Druids as the bird represents a gateway between real and dream worlds. Also finding inner joy.

Beetles:                Linked to transformation and rebirth.

Bee:                      Linked to community and believing in the seemingly impossible.

Silver Birch:          Sacred Tree linked to protection, purification and new beginnings.

Blackthorn:           Linked to unexpected change and also rebirth. The fruit are sloe berries.

Blackberries:         Food of the fairies

Bluebells:               In folklore they ring to call the fairies to a gathering.

Barley:                   Linked to spiritual awakening in dreams.

Beech:                   Tree linked to stability and energy flow.

3 Moon Symbol:    Linked to the Goddess Brigid.
