This painting is one of a series of 26 Alphabet paintings measuring 10.5" x 13.5" (to fit 11x14 Frame) which celebrate the richness and diversity of the flora and fauna of the British Isles and the influence of the cultures that surround it. Mythological stories and ancient folklore handed down from our ancestors have given our beautiful Isles and all her creatures spiritual significance.The aim of this series of paintings is to continue this tradition by creating a collection of spiritual images inspired by folklore and Mother Nature to pass onto our own children based on the letters of the alphabet.
Spiritual and Folklore Interpretations: Letter ‘C'
Celtic Cross: Sacred to both Pagans and Christians.
Chalice Well: The interwoven circles on the cover of this famous well represent the joining of material and etheric worlds.
Crow: The crow animal totem supports you in developing the power of transformation, sight and connection with life’s magic.
Caterpillar: It teaches us patience and reminds us that all things happen in perfect time.
Catkins: Flower of the Willow, a sacred Celtic Tree.
Chrysanthemum: ‘Ox-eye Daisy represents cheerfulness.
Cuckoo Pint: Although poisonous in folklore it is linked to fertility due to its shape. One of its nicknames is ‘Fairy Lamps’ as its pollen is said to glow in the dark.
Cornflower: Linked to wealth, prosperity and fortune.
Clover: Sacred to the Celtic people and presented balance and the triad.
Cowslip: Linked to fairies in British folklore.
Conker: Horse-chestnut tree linked to awareness.
Chamomile: A herb of protection and purification
