This painting is one of a series of 26 Alphabet paintings measuring 10.5" x 13.5" (to fit 11x14 Frame) which celebrate the richness and diversity of the flora and fauna of the British Isles and the influence of the cultures that surround it. Mythological stories and ancient folklore handed down from our ancestors have given our beautiful Isles and all her creatures spiritual significance.The aim of this series of paintings is to continue this tradition by creating a collection of spiritual images inspired by folklore and Mother Nature to pass onto our own children based on the letters of the alphabet.

Spiritual and Folklore Interpretations:  Letter ‘R'

Rowan:            In tree lore it represents protection from evil and is the wood is used to make wands.                 

Raven:             Spiritually linked to magical power.

Robin:              A power animal linked to growth and renewal.

Ram:                Associated with Aries and the solar plexus, he symbolises motivation and determination.

Rabbit:            Spiritually linked to fertility.

Rose:               Many spiritual meanings including love and passion in British folklore.

Ragwort:          Linked to protection in plant lore.

Rainbow:         Linked to beauty and symbolically a bridge between heaven and earth.

Runes:             Sacred in Norse mythology, Each stone has its own spiritual meaning.

Three Rays:     The Celtic symbol of Arwen and the balance of male and female energy.

Rings:  Spiritually linked to promises, tokens of alliance and love
