Hares are held with affection in ancient British folklore and can represent our connection with the spiritual world bringing insight. In some places hares foretold of misfortune. Like the rabbit, hares are a potent symbol of fertility and are linked with several goddesses including Ostara (the ancient Germanic Goddess of Spring), Andraste (a moon goddess in iron-age England) and the Celtic Goddess Cerridwen.
