Stags have a rich history within the folklore and mythology of The British Isles. This portrait depicts a red deer stag and a jackdaw. Stags have many traditional, spiritual associations such as pride, protection and compassion to self. Here, the Stag stands proud with a piercing stare. He feels otherworldly and guards the gateway between the Spiritual and material realms. If you look closely, you may be able to pick out the faces behind him.
